Or Why I Choose to Help

Being a Windows Insider started off as a way to get the latest and greatest first. A way to test things out, see where Windows was going. The feedback was optional, a nice little extra, if you will. When it was announced, I jumped at the chance to be a part of the first two hundred thousand. Knowing there were 199,999 other people, all using Windows 10 and being a part of this great experiment, was amazing. A little club of Windows fans all around the world.

While Gabe Aul continued to push buttons and respond to the Twitter harassing, something was happening in the background. Something amazing. A community was forming. A community of people who wanted Windows 10 to be the best it could be, who wanted to help and who understood that risk and failure is the only sure-fire way to success. How many phones were bricked? How many desktops had to be reformatted and reinstalled? And yet, people still put their hands up. From two hundred thousand to 1 million, and now to 10 Million Windows Insiders. The millions, representing the billions.

Windows Insiders are a community now. A community who understands that technology is the only answer to the problems of the world. But more than a community, we are a tribe. In a tribe, individual success means group success. If I build something that helps you achieve your goal, then we have both succeeded. After all, we are all just standing on the shoulders of those who came before us. And all we can hope for, is for someone to be proud to stand on ours.

We are the Insiders. We are the millions representing the billions.
We are the business users, the Xbox gamers, the entertainers, the creators, the teachers and the students. We are here, and we are ready to Ignite!
