Travelling changes the traveler.
Me on travelling (also, I think I might be mis-remembering the real quote here)
It’s impossible to come back the same as when you left.
Coming back from a holiday is a gift. A strange one, wrapped in emotions, thoughts and some amazing photos. You come back, feeling sad about those you said goodbye to, while looking forward to some normality and “getting stuck back in”. It also comes with an updated perspective on what needs to change, or happen, to get what you want out of life.
Similar to New Year’s resolutions, coming back from a holiday allows you to refocus, re-orientate, and make changes. It presents an opportunity that is not to be missed, or overlooked. And by holding onto those changes, or ideas, for longer, it allows the holiday a little more extension than just the dates you weren’t at work.
By being around really positive and motivated people, and by watching Jeremy meticulously edit his 2000+ photos and blog while on the go, I have been inspired. Why don’t I blog whenever I get the urge rather than wait to sit down at my PC? And with the WordPress app on my phone, OneNote on every device I own, I can blog when and where ever I am. And then just publish it later. The tools are there! All I need is resolve!
So along with the 30-Pushup-A-Day challenge my friends and I have decided to do, I am doing my own challenge – a blog post every day for a month minimum. And for those that follow along, I have decided to do a very lose category-by-day schedule. This should help those that follow me for one aspect, and not others.
Now what would this schedule look like? I have a few ideas, that *will* be subject to change, as who knows what might inspire me, or when…
Music Monday
This will be anywhere between a full blown album or artist review – like my Sort-Of Music Reviews, a quick song recommendation or a play through of my New Music Mix from Apple Music. The options are endless really, so expect some variety. And not all will be 1,000 word monsters…
Tech Tuesday
I like to think of my self as a bit of a futurist, yet, I don’t really don’t talk about future tech. I hope by having a tech day, I’ll be pushed to write more about whats coming and trends rather than just improving Windows 10.
Win Wednesday
Let’s focus on something positive – either a story from yours truly, or something interesting I found to lift your spirits. After all, Twitter is not real life, and the outrage mobs need some competition.
Thoughtful Thursday
My unsolicited opinion on stuff. Sometimes with a point, often without. I hope to use this to mull over things.
Fun Friday
It’s ok, I don’t even know what this means. Maybe this will become a meme day, or a funny story day. But what ever it is, it will be something that puts a smile on my face. And maybe yours too…
Saturday Stories
Since I have some time on Saturdays, I think a good use of this will be writing more fiction. Since I think of myself as an unpaid, undiscovered, famous author, I have to actually do some writing. Amazing how that works.
Sunday Firesides
Sundays will be a reflection on my week – where I am with what I am doing. Not so much a recap as a here-is-what-happened-heres-how-to-do-better type thing. More for my learning than yours, but you can follow along if that’s your jam. Or jar of preserves.
So that’s the plan. What do you think? Am I crazy? Maybe. But it will be fun.
Do you have a suggestion? I’d love to hear it! Got a story for Win Wednesday – tell me! Want my opinion on this latest tech news, ask me. I am sure my inspiration will run out at some point, so I need your help!
So thats the plan. Its a plan. It might fall through. It might be fine.
Who knows.

Oh man, this is gonna be fun to read! I’m looking forward to kind of everything but I think especially Saturday stories. (I also still harbour quiet hope that you and Simone will continue that artificial bodies sci-fi you were writing.)
