A Very Metal Weekend

A weekend seeing not just one, not just two, but four big bands!

When the Oz Man announced his No More Tours was getting a New Zealand leg, well, the stage was set. When Slayer announced their farewell tour for the very same weekend, well then my fate was sealed. Slayer on Friday, Ozzy on Saturday, and one very happy Kyle on Sunday with ears slightly ringing, and maybe a few bruised ribs or two.

A weekend in Auckland, blasting my ears with some fine, A-grade, metal. And to boot - Anthrax was joining Slayer, and Judas Priest was joining Ozzy. How could this get any better?

With Anthrax and Slayer off the bucket list, the only one reminaing of the Big Four would be Megadeth, and surely with Ozzy, Priest, Slayer and Anthrax all heading to little ole New Zealand, Megadeth wouldn’t be far behind. At least one can dream.

Unfortunately, Ozzy had to cancel due to a recent health scare, which allowed Priest to take up the mantle of headliners. It is a pity for sure, but health comes first. And the world is not quite ready to say goodbye to Ozzy. I am hopeful that once he is better he’ll reschedule and I’ll get the chance to see him perform.

Well, the die was cast, the tickets bought, and the weekend in the big smoke all but sorted. This was going to turn out to be A Very Metal Weekend.
